Link and Epona are back in there shortest aventure yet! That's right short! You may be thinking "Well if this game is so short I probably don't want it" well you are wrong. While the game does... technically take place whithin three days it will actually take a lot more time for you to beat.
In this game Link finds himself trying to save a town and friend from a suicidal moon that will crush the town whithin three days. Luckily you learn that a song that princess Zelda taught you long ago has a special power to return you back in time. That's when your real journey begins!
Gameplay 9/10
Nothing beats swinging your sword around and firing arrows into your foes. Majora's mask is just like any other classic Zelda game. You go through room after room fighting off foes and solving puzzles. Most of the enemies in this game are quite easy to figure out a weakness too but there are some that take some time. The puzzles are also mostly simple but I got stuck for a while at some spots. The main part of the game isn't terribly long. There are only four dungeons in the whole game. The sidequests on this game, however, are really good!!!!!!! You are only cheating yourself of a great experience if you don't at least complete the bomber's notebook and collect every mask. The gameplay on this game will for sure keep you entertained and having fun!
Music 6/10
Personally I really enjoyed a lot of the songs on this game... or maybe I should say the song on this game. Truthfully there aren't many songs on this game during exploration at least. You have the town theme, the overworld theme, and the swamp/mountain/ocean/canyon song. I really just happened to enjoy the same song that played throughout all the areas of the game... my favorite version being the canyon one. Most of the music was just taken from Ocarina of time. As for the ocarina songs... a lot of them again are from Oot. The new songs probably aren't as good as Oot's but they are for sure memorable.
Story 10/10!!
The main story of this game is nothing special. There is a moon about the crash and you have three days to collect the gurdians to stop it, giving you an opportunity to confront Majora's mask. The reason the story gets a 10/10 is because of the mini-stories you play through. This game is the master of emotion!! It is a rare thing indeed for a game to nearly bring you to tears and that is trully a stamp of quality. This game has far more than one times when you find yourself on the verge of tears! This game is just magnificent.
Chellenge 7/10 (10 being challenge is where is should be 1 being rediculously easy/hard)
For the most part this game is right on on difficuly. Enemies are pretty easily beaten but can still cause you trouble. There are a few spots on the game that don't seem to be made well. Controlling Goron Link as he's speeding around as a ball specifically at some spots is rediculous. At one point I found myself trying to circle around a tight edge but kept bouncing into a wall forcing me to solve many puzzles over and over again. Most of the bosses are where they should be except for one. The third boss was also rediculous. You have to be a highly skilled player to be able to beat that specific boss without dying at least once. It wasn't that the boss was hard but rather it got three free hearts to take everytime you hit it once. Other than those two times though this game was rather easy.
Replay Value 8/10
This game is trully unique and fun to play. Completing the bomber's notebook and getting all the masks will probably never get old. This game is a game you will most definently want to pick up again.
Overall 9/10
This game starts out slowly but ends with a bang. The game rapidly climbs up hill after the first dungeon and you'll find yourself wanting to play more and more. Complete the bomber's notebook and collect every mask (which isn't hard) and you won't be disapointed.
Recommended age: 13+
There are some points in this game that take some thought and pose a serious challenge to even experienced gamers. The last area also has many errie creatures including freaky zombies that freeze you and then jump on you and also hands that will grab you quite suddenly thus scaring the pants off of you. Chances are if you're younger than 13 you will not only be too scared to play through some parts in the game but you also will be too frustrated with bosses and puzzles to be able to enjoy the game.
