At nintendos fall press conference they have announced a new version of the Nintendo DS. Its called the DSi now.
The DSi will be released in Japan on November 1. It will retail for $180, and will be available in two colours, white and black. It will be released in other markets sometime "next year" (See the last paragraph).
New features:
-The screen will now be 17% larger (at 3.25 inches) than on the DS Lite
-They have removed the Gameboy advanced slot which has made it slightly thinner.
-a .3 megapixel (640x480) camera.
-can play music
-an SD memory card slot.
-speakers have been improved.
-It has a built in browser, and it's possible to download games and keep them on the DSi.
For digital delivery purchases, there is a DSi Shop, from which users can download DSiWare from. Pricing categories for the DSiWare are: Free, 200 points, 500 points and "Premium" or 800 points. Customers will get 1000 free points to spend at the DSi Shop that are good until March 2010.
The songs are stored on the SD card in AAC so you can transfer between the PC. The DSi will have built in software that lets you speed up or slow down songs, change the pitch, and filter tracks. So you can do things like isolating the lyrics. You can also record your voice as a track and mess around with it.
The DSi actually has two cameras built into it, one on the outside and one inside, centered on the hinge.
Sadly, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that they wouldn't be bringing the DSi to North America until late 2009 because they want to continue selling the DS throughout the holiday season.
