Capcom and Sony Pictures have confirmed the launch date for the latest movie in the Resident Evil series.
The fully animated feature, entitled Resident Evil: Degeneration (Biohazard: Degeneration in Japan), will open in cinemas on October 18 in Japan and will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and Portable PlayStation on December 31 in the US.
The film will be set in autumn 2005 as bioterrorists release the T-Virus into a busy US airport. Leon and his team have four hours to disarm the situation and eliminate the zombies or the T-Virus will be spread to every populated area in the US.
A UK release date for the movie has yet to be announced.

The debut screening of Resident Evil: Degeneration will be October 10th, at the Tokyo Game Show (that's in Tokyo). The North American premiere will be November 13th, at the New York City Horror Film Festival, and in LA on November 18th (hosted by Fangoria!). The movie comes to DVD, Blu-ray, and PSP (!) on December 30th.
